Lowe's is hiring for Mechanic
The Mechanic is responsible for keeping equipment in the Flatbed Fulfillment Center (FFC) fully operational. This role involves complex repair capabilities in two specialty areas (conveyors, rolling stock, or building) and general knowledge in the other area. The Mechanic uses their electrical and mechanical knowledge to diagnose, plan, and execute repairs, while also mentoring other mechanics and seeking assistance from the Maintenance Coach when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and repair equipment in the RDC, focusing on conveyors, rolling stock, or building components. Use electrical and mechanical knowledge to address equipment issues.
- Diagnostic & Repair: Recognize and diagnose equipment issues, determine repair needs, prioritize and plan work, order spare parts, and execute repairs.
- Mentoring: Mentor Utility and Maintenance Mechanic I, providing guidance and support.
- Assistance: Seek assistance from the Maintenance Coach when necessary.
What We're Looking For:
- Schedule: Must work a set schedule that may be adjusted based on facility needs. Availability for morning, afternoon, nights, or weekends, including on-call support and overtime, is required.
- Environment: Must work in a distribution/warehouse environment with associated physical and environmental aspects.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to use tools requiring fine motor skills, work safely with corrosive materials, and at heights of 20+ feet. Must lift up to 70 pounds.
What You Need to Succeed:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid state driver’s license.
- 4 years of maintenance experience.
- 2 years of experience in each of the two specialty areas.
- Experience in repairing and providing technical training for electrical/electronic voltages (51-599 volts and above).
- Certification to perform work at a Senior Mechanic level if required by local regulations.
- Proven safety compliance.
- Ability to see objects and discriminate colors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or technical school graduate.
- Experience or certification in welding and fabrication.
- Certification for electrical work and/or high voltage work.
- Experience operating various maintenance and operations vehicles and equipment.
- Track record of addressing equipment/system irregularities to reduce failures and downtime.
- Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and other technical drawings.
