Position Summary:

The Director of Software Engineering will be responsible for leading and managing the software development function within the Digital Products & Services organization. The role will oversee all phases of the software development lifecycle, deliver high-quality solutions, and influence the overall digital strategy at PepsiCo. This leader will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy software solutions that align with business goals and deliver measurable results.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

• Create a strategic vision for software engineering aligned with PepsiCo’s business objectives.
• Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team of software engineers.
• Drive innovation and best practices in software development.

Product Development:

• Oversee the design, development, and delivery of digital products and services.
• Collaborate with product management, user experience, and IT teams to ensure alignment and execution.
• Build scalable and resilient software solutions using modern technologies.

Project and Resource Management:

• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Ensure the delivery of software projects on time and within scope.
• Continuously assess project risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Process and Quality Management:

• Establish and enforce best practices for software development, DevOps, and quality assurance.
• Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and performance standards.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Communicate effectively with executives, cross-functional teams, and external partners.
• Provide technical insights and recommendations to support business decisions.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary Range: $150,000 to $300,000 (subject to location, experience, and skills).
• Performance Bonus: Target payout of 25% of annual salary, plus additional long-term incentives.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).

Experience:

• 15+ years of experience in software development and engineering management.
• 10+ years of expertise in architecting high-scale, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• 4+ years of managing engineering teams, including multiple managers.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in programming languages like C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with front-end frameworks (React, Node.js, or Redux).
• Strong knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and design patterns.

• Excellent project management and prioritization skills.
• Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and work in a matrixed environment.

• Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time.
